Prayers for Evangelical Believers:
A Prayer for America's Economic Uncertainties
by Ed Vasicek
Thank You for Your faithfulness. You are our Rock in a turbulent terrain, our Shelter in the time of storm. We find refuge and security under Your wings. We thank You for Jesus Christ, the One Who died for us to save us from sin, death, and hell. But His death and resurrection also demonstrate Your love for us.
Lord, most people on our planet think that their country is the best or merits Your special attention. We Americans have been this way, and, yet Lord, at times like this we realize how vulnerable we are. We have no guarantee of our future earthly prosperity. We know, O Lord, that our nation has turned away from You. Our sins are very many. When we think of the sin of abortion and the rise of homosexuality, we remember what You did to Sodom and Gomorra. We would not fault You if you annihilated our economy or allowed our enemies to overrun us.
But, O Lord, You were willing to spare Sodom if ten righteous men dwelt therein. And so, O Lord, we ask You--for the sake of those who know You and love You, that You would deliver our nation from economic collapse, if that be Your will. Guide our elected officials as to the best course of action, and work in our land to draw many to You; may those who know You pursue You as they never have before.
We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.
